During the summer of 2018, I worked at KOMU as a general assignment reporter. My shifts varied from "Morning Lives" to night shifts.

Hope for Heroes 5k raises money for veterans

Boone County has more than 600 veterans living with food insecurites. The Missouri's Central and Northeast food bank partnered with Veterans United to hold its first ever 5k to help those in need.

Police investigating armed robbery off Mexico Gravel Road

I showed up on the scene of this story around 1 a.m. After talking with the police, I introduced myself to the victim and her family. That early introduction helped me get an exclusive interview with them later in the day. This story taught me the importance of building a rapport.

A series of car break ins leaves one neighborhood searching for answers

This story really challenged me. I had to get creative with the way I told this story. The break in happened in the early morning, but residents were so shaken up that they weren't willing to talk to me on camera. This shift taught me to stay diligent.
